Jona's Ark (drama from Croatia with English subtitles)
Is it ever right to do things that are wrong in order to do other things that are right? That’s the question posed by this amusing film from Croatia. When Jona finds a stray dog, she goes to the local dogs’ home only to find that it depends on charitable donations and that these have become few and far between. The home is on the brink of closing. Its owner and Jona then discover that caring owners give handsome rewards when their dogs are safely returned. So the two of them embark on a dog-napping spree in order to raise much needed funds. Inevitably this ends in trouble and a visit by the police. However, this draws attention to the plight of the local dogs’ home and the locals rally round by staging a charity concert. All is well that ends well.
