'Season Sketch' by Berlie Doherty (dramatisation and analysis)
Berlie Doherty describes the creation of her poem 'Season Sketch', representing a set of four snapshots of the seasons. The poem concentrates in particular on the changing colours of the landscape. She walks in a winter landscape near her home, describing how in this season the colours seem to have been 'rinsed out' but that they can be added back through poetry. She then reads a poem which portrays how the colours in the landscape change over the four seasons. She focuses on how one feature of the poet's art is to look at things 'upside down', here imagining grass as sky, and flowers as suns in that sky.
