Puccini's opera 'La Bohème' appraised by Antonio Pappano

Antonio Pappano tells the story of how Puccini presents a world of youth that everyone can relate to in his opera 'La Bohème'. Between scenes of a production of the opera and performances at the piano, Pappano explains how Puccini's economical composing style and subtle orchestration combine with a naturally set libretto really show the audience amongst other things, what falling in love is like. At the piano, Pappano and opera singer Renata Scotto explain and perform how sensitively the score tragically tells the story of lead character Mimi's death.
