The Tate, two artists, two generations
82 year old Ibrahim El-Salahi and Beninese artist Meschac Gaba respond to each other’s shows at Tate Modern. As artists from Africa, both men have faced neglect, rejection and ignorance. This summer’s Tate Modern exhibitions are a landmark moment and show a shift in attitudes by the Western art establishment.
