British India and the campaign for independence

A look at the period leading up to independence of India with the Indian legal system in 1939. The clip includes the role of Gandhi in the process with an overview of his beliefs and how he saw India developing in the period after independence and the principle of full employment for all. Ghandi had no interest in the West's values of maximising productivity - believing his people should live as close to nature as possible - spinning and weaving with the state being a loose federation of village republics.
