Richard Feynman recalls his childhood learning when his father Melville would read to him about dinosaurs from an encyclopaedia. Rather than simply listing facts, like size and height, Feynman’s father would describe how a large dinosaur would be as if it were there in front of them, sticking its head through the window of their house. Feynman says that translating examples into reality helped him learn, and he began to do this with everything he would read.
