Teen wins High Court ruling on police custody treatment of 17 year olds
A young black male has successfully challenged the law which treats 17year olds in police custody as adults, not children.
Hughes Cousins-Chang was kept in custody for 12 hours and strip searched before he was released on police bail.
This week a High Court judge ruled that the policy was 'incomptaible' with human rights law.
That ruling alone was momentous, and more so for a man so young.
Hughes and his mother Carrlean Chang joined Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ London’s Dotun Adebayo to talk through the case, and his victory.
