The farmers' market
In 1993 something came along that had many a foodie leaping out of their bed and heading into town - the modern farmers' market.
Today they are hugely popular and there are around 500 of them happening on a regular basis up and down the country. But they didn’t spring up from an idyllic village somewhere in Somerset, it was Los Angeles!
