Work at a slate quarry in Bethesda

Footage from 1998 of a slate quarry at Penrhyn near Bethesda showing non-traditional ways of slate cutting. The quarry once produced 120,000 tons of slate per year and was the largest slate quarry in Europe. It is still operating though on a much reduced scale. Commentary assesses the dangers of foreign competition for the future of the industry.
