Offenders' Tagging Scheme Receives New Funding

A police scheme tackling prolific offenders in Northamptonshire has received funding for a further two years. It is latest weapon in the battle against car crime and burglary.

A police scheme that tackles prolific offenders in Northamptonshire has been given funding for a further two years.

It is the latest weapon in the battle against car crime and burglary which has been on the increase.

Sergeant Tony Cotton, who works in the Offender Management team at Kettering police station explains to reporter Elinor Cross how the scheme works and Elinor meets two offenders who wear the tags. Stuart talks to Detective Inspector Julie Freeman, Head of Northamptonshire's Integrated Offender Management Unit, and to Andy Corner, the Community Programme Manager for Groundwork, part of the rehabilitation team that works with persistent reoffenders.
