More detail is emerging about a highly critical report about the the protection of children and young people in Northamptonshire. A lack of resources is said to be a major factor.

There's more detail about a highly critical report about the the protection of children and young people in Northamptonshire. The OFSTED report says it recognises financial pressures on budgets and that a lack of resources has had an "adverse effect on some services." It's also emerged that vulnerable children are being held in police custody because Northamptonshire's child protection service has not found suitable alternative accommodation to protect them from harm.

The Lowdown is a counselling service for hundreds of young people in Northamptonshire with mental health problems. It works alongside Northamptonshire childrens service but fears it will run out of funds this Summer.
