Did You Know?

1974 was a bumper year for general elections in the UK, with one held in February and another in October. The first had failed to produce an overall majority, resulting in a hung Parliament, with Labour's Harold Wilson eventually becoming Prime Minister after incumbent Conservative Edward Heath failed to enlist Liberal support to form a coalition government. October's election saw Wilson again returned to power with a tiny majority of three.
