Sweden and Hungary

Jo Fidgen's in the frozen far north of Scandinavia learning why reindeer are crucial to survival for Saami nomads; Petroc Trelawny bargains hard in Budapest's Ecseri flea market.

Pascale Harter introduces two accounts of very different European journeys. Jo Fidgen recently journeyed through Scandinavia's frozen extremes, in northern Sweden, and found out just why reindeer are so crucial to survival for the Saami nomads who still live there. The animal is effectively a walking 'survival kit' - as well as a source of traditional clothing you'd be proud to wear. Petroc Trelawny has a more urban adventure in Budapest, finding his way to Ecseri flea market and finding it crawling with reminders of Hungarian 20th-century history.
