Droppin' Well rescue and local reaction
Brian Barron reports from the remains of the Droppin' Well pub in Ballykelly, County Londonderry, where sixteen people were killed when a bomb exploded without warning at a Monday night disco.
Rescue squads had worked to free people from the rubble for over twelve hours, saving dozens who had been buried alive. Pub manager Peter Cooke tells of the chaos of the explosion and looking for his sister Patricia (who later died from injuries sustained in the bombing). Pub owner John Cooke (brother of Peter and Patricia) speaks of his total disbelief at what had happened.
Dr Edward Daly (the Bishop of Derry), Ian Paisley (local unionist politician) and the Northern Ireland Secretary James Prior also give their reaction to the incident.
