Testing and identifying materials in a shipwreck
Divers are investigating a wooden shipwreck looking for treasure. They find a rock which doesn't actually seem to be a rock. It doesn't sound like a rock or feel like a rock, so they test it with a magnet. It is attracted to the magnet, so they deduce it must be an object made from iron or steel. They test other rocks in a similar way and identify wood. They also find other objects such as a glass bottle, a gold necklace and a metal cup.
