Britain after Churchill - Baroness Castle of Blackburn
Baroness Castle of Blackburn was a member of the House of Lords until her death in 2002. She first became an MP after the 1945 election. The Labour Party did not expect to win after Churchill had led the country to victory in the Second World War. The war had been preceded by years of depression though, and the people of Britain decided that they wanted to build a different future.
