Live Aid - 1985
When the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ first reported on the Ethiopian famine in Africa in the mid-1980s, the people of Britain began donating money to the cause. Famous pop stars of the time got together and made a record - 'Do they know it's Christmas?' - to help raise money. Musician Bob Geldof organised a huge concert called Live Aid in 1985, and the money raised went towards food aid and long term developments. Sport Aid and Comic Relief soon followed as fund-raising ventures.
