Does the reporting of poverty stand up to scrutiny? Traditionally the reporting of poverty has elicted pity and sympathy, but as Nick Fraser, the editor of a new series Why Poverty? tells Rajan Datar "I don't think either of these motives produce good reporting. I think what you have to do... is to look at the lives of poor people as you would look at anyone else's life."
The documentary series Why Poverty? about different aspects of the issue, is due to be broadcast by 70 broadcasters covering 180 countries around the world.
