David Russell's nail gun attack
On the 11th August 2007, David Russell was found staggering near his home in Gloucester, covered in blood and with seven nails buried in his body; one dangerously close to his heart. It seemed he’d been the victim of a violent and unprovoked attack.
When David Russell appeared on the local news to appeal for witnesses, an old boss recognized him and had some interesting information for police. Russell had claimed on his CV to be a former Marine, with a number of tours of duty under his belt.
Russell’s military career had later turned out to be a fabrication.
A police investigation revealed that Russell had previously claimed for compensation after an identical nail gun attack. Was this the unluckiest man in Britain? Or was David Russell a fraudster and a fantasist?
