Andy Williams chats to Clive Anderson

Clive Anderson chats to Andy Williams about his memoir Moon River and Me.

He describes his early life and phenomenally successful career in music and show business. His hits included Moon River, Can't Get Used To Losing You, Music To Watch Girls By and Can't Take My Eyes Off You and he fronted his own televison show The Andy Williams Show, in the sixties.

Andy talks about his friendship with Bobby Kennedy, how he and his wife were to meet up with the Kennedys on that fatal night at a club, instead they ended up in the hospital after his assassination.

He also describes how life was particularly hard in his early days, so much so he had to resort to eating his dog’s dog food, but it was the good stuff – it had meat and gravy.

From Loose Ends, 3 October 2009.
