'Songs of Innocence and Experience' by William Blake (introduction)

William Blake believed there were two ‘contrary states’ to the human soul – innocence and experience. He explored this philosophy in his famous collection of poems, 'Songs of Innocence and of Experience’. The ‘Songs of Experience’ deal with harsh realities that the world, whilst the ‘Songs of Innocence’ deal with lighter, untainted world of childhood.
