900 fewer cataract operations were carried out in East Kent last year according to the RNIB. They are accusing the health trusts of denying people simple, effective surgery, adding that some may lose their jobs or will not be able to drive because the wait for treatment is so long.
Did you wait until your eyesight had deteriorated enough to qualify for treatment? Were you forced to go private? What was your experience like?
Have you been denied treatment on the NHS? How long did you have to wait for an appointment or to go through the system?
We hear your stories.
Also on the programme, Andy Goode from St. Mary's Island in Chatham was told by doctors that he was dying in May 2010. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and told he had just months to live. He, his wife, and his nine-year-old daughter prepared for the worst.
However Andy, now 49, did not die. In fact he did not even have cancer. Receiving the good news that he would live did not improve his health though.
Mentally and emotionally, Andy deteriorated. He suffered from depression and post traumatic stress disorder. On the plus side, counselling has helped both he and his family through the ordeal and says he appreciates life more now than ever before.
He tells Julia of his emotional journey and how he has emerged on the other side of these issues determined to help the lives of others (10.09).
And a 12-year-old boy from Kent has been hailed a hero after stopping his father's car in the Medway Tunnel when he fell unconscious at the wheel.
Reece McGhee was in the passenger seat when his dad Tony slipped into a diabetic coma. Driving erratically and missing turnings, Reece spotted something was wrong, slipped the car into neutral and put the handbrake on. He even had the presence of mind to turn on the hazard lights.
Father and son join Julia live at 10.35 to talk about the experience.
