Is it ever okay to take your kids out of school in term time?

A man from Hawkinge asked for permission to take his 7-year-old daughter out of school In March. The school said no but the family went anyway to a holiday camp in Somerset. That prompted a fifty pound fine which doubled to a hundred when he refused to pay. Do you sympathise with him? Are the fines fair?

How much have you spent on your family summer holiday - maybe you have not booked anything because it is all so expensive. Ever been tempted to go in term time - maybe you have done it. Do you regularly do it? Do you have a sympathetic head or do you just go regardless of what the schools says. Ever been fined? At fifty pounds is the fine really a disincentive - I have heard of parents who just factor it into the cost of the family holiday.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (or CBT) is a type of therapy that aims to help you manage your problems by changing how you think and act. It is something we often hear mentioned but perhaps do not know much about.

We speak to Caroline Romaine a Counsellor and Psychotherapist who lives and works here in Kent.

We hear your views and stories.
