Sweet peas
For Roger Sweet Peas are βonly a hobbyβ but obsession would be nearer the truth. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of them and is now exhibiting at Hampton Court for the first time. Roger will be in the Plant Heritage Marquee.
He started growing sweet peas in 1985 and has held a National Collection since 1993. The theme for his stand is β World Conservationβ and Roger aims to show, old varieties from 100yrs ago and demonstrate how their genes have been carried through in the newest selections.
The cameras visited Roger at his sweet pea nursery earlier in the month and he explained how to grow sweet peas and how they can trace their origins back to Sicily.
