Kent County Council is looking at the 11 plus tests to see if they can be made fairer. There is a concern that parents who can afford to pay for private tutoring or a private school can buy their children an advantage. We will hear from
Kent County Council's cabinet member for education Mike Whiting.
Have a think about the situation we now find ourselves in in Kent with widespread tutoring.
Twenty years ago no-one was doing it were they? Everyone just sat a test in the school hall and went home again and a few weeks later you found out if you were going to grammar school or not. Some children did not even realise that they had just sat a public test.
How times have changed, tutoring is big business in Kent.

There is bad news for many homeowners today.
More than a million mortgage borrowers are facing higher monthly payments, as seven lenders increase lending rates by up to 0.5%.
In some cases that will add about Β£55 to the monthly cost of an average Β£200,000 mortgage.
It will come as an unpleasant added expense to many already struggling to make ends meet.
