The Gills Chairman urges councillors to reject proposed development

John and Clare with the latest news, travel, and weather, plus stories from around Kent.

Gillingham Football Club could be forced to move out of Medway if a proposed Β£650m development at Chatham Docks gets the go ahead. That is according to the Chairman Paul Scally - who has written to every local councillor - urging them to reject the plans.

Paul Scally says the fact the proposed development includes a supermarket would scupper his own plans to build a retail backed new stadium just a couple of miles away from the docks (06:07, 07:07 and 08:08).

Residents in Westgate on Sea are the latest to rise up in protest against plans for a big supermarket on their doorstep.

Their campaign follows similar ones in Herne, Herne Bay, Margate, and many other places recently. They have had a street protest, a big petition, and they are holding public meetings soon as well, fearing that a planned Sainsbury superstore will destroy everything that makes their town vibrant and special. That said, not everybody in Westgate holds the same opinion (07:22 and 08:22).

30-years-on, British sovereignty for the islands' three thousand residents is once again being questioned by the Argentine Government.

This morning, you can hear a three part interview John Warnett has recorded with Dick Baker from Sittingbourne, who was deputy to Falklands Governor, Rex Hunt, in 1982.

In the first part of the interview, I asked him about the moment he knew about the invasion (06:54, 07:48 and 08:48).
