Should we be throwing money at Kent's problem families?

Should we be throwing money at problem families? Kent has one of the biggest problems in the country. We have more troubled families than the cities of Bradford, Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool.

Should we be throwing money at Kent's problem families? Kent has one of the biggest problems in the country. We have more troubled families than the cities of Bradford, Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool.

These are households where, according to the government no-one works, where the kids routinely play truant from school and wreak havoc in the community, and where mums may have mental health problems.

Do you recognise that description? Are there families like that in your Kent town or village. Do you feel sorry for them or do you secretly despise them? Are they victims of inequality or do they only have themselves to blame? Are you part of a troubled family - why does no-one work? Do you feel judged? Are you desperate for help?

Does Kent really need a new grammar school? A proposal to open England's first new grammar school for 50 years here in Kent is expected to win support from Kent councillors today.

The Tory-controlled council is being urged to back a 2,000-name petition from parents in Sevenoaks who want some sort of selective school provision in their town for the first time. They say their children currently have to travel 20 miles by bus to attend the nearest grammar.

Should children from outside the county be taking up our grammar school places? How far do your children have to travel to grammar school? We hear your views and stories.
