Rooms in Kent's nursing homes don't come cheap. You can easily pay 拢650 a week. After three years, you'll have paid getting on for 拢100,000. By that time you'll almost certainly have sold your home if you have one, and you'll keep haemmoraging money until you're down to your last 23 thousand pounds. Is that fair?

With more of us living longer and the country's finances in trouble there's no way the state could afford to pick up the whole bill. But would it help if there was a cap? The man in charge of social care in Kent, Graham Gibbens, says nobody should pay more than 拢50,000 for their old age care.

Is that reasonable? Are you budgeting for your old age, or just pretending it's never going to happen?

Also on the programme, two Kent hospitals are recruiting nurses in Portugal and Ireland claiming there is a lack of experience here in the county.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells hospitals have recruited 24 nurses from Ireland and are looking to add a further 40 nurses due to increased demand. If foreign nurses are good at their jobs and speak good English, does it matter where they are from?

Pubs that improve community life should be given tax breaks to help them survive, according to a report by a leading think-tank. With 16 pubs currently believed to be closing each week, the report by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) recommends a 50% business rate
relief for those that can prove they act as community hubs.
