Gibson Young joins Will Cromie on a tour around the Ards: Donaghadee
In the first of a series, Willie Cromie and Gibson Young travel round places on the Ards Peninsula sharing yarns and music.
They begin in Donaghadee - and Gibson performs βSix miles from Bangor to Donaghadeeβ accompanied by Ivan McFerran.
Willie and Gibson talk about the light house and how robbers, in the past, would lure ships onto the rocks to steal the cargo.
The two recall the old railway line which came from Belfast right down the quay bringing the mail which would be loaded onto the old steam packet boat.
Willie and Gibson end up outside Grace Neillβs pub - believed to be the oldest pub in Ireland, dating from 1611 - and Willie has a yarn involving a Donaghadee barber and the Popeβ¦ (Broadcast: 5th Oct 2011)
