Hythe pensioner faces deportation back to Zimbabwe

John and Clare with the latest news, travel, and weather, plus stories from around Kent.

The family of an 88-year-old woman from Hythe say she will die if she is deported back to her native Zimbabwe. Lydie Werritt, who came to the UK almost a decade ago, has no family or friends in the African country. She has now received a letter from the UK Border Agency, telling her she has no basis to remain in the UK.

It is claimed young people in Kent booking a driving test are having to wait longer and travel further to do it. It follows the closure of a test centre in Gravesend at the beginning of the year.

Driving instructors there claim that as well as pushing up waiting times from six weeks to 10, it is taking students longer to learn to drive because they have to practice on unfamiliar roads where they will be taking their tests.

And we follow developments at Dale Farm travellers site in Essex, where baliffs are moving in to remove its residents.
