Should all Kent schoolgirls be forced to wear trousers to stop them looking like sex objects?

The head teacher at a mixed Kent secondary school has sent a letter to parents saying girls will be forced to wear trousers if they continue to flout school rules on short skirts.

At Herne Bay High girls are supposed to wear a skirt that is no more than 10cm above the knee. The principal Dr Claire Owen says the girls are putting themselves at risk, and if they carry on she will insist everyone wears trousers.

Why are we still failing our elderly loved ones when they go into hospital? A Kent hospital has been named in a report that claims some of our hospitals are not doing enough to meet the needs of elderly patients.

Inspections at 100 hospitals across England found one-in-five were breaking the law by failing to care for elderly patients adequately. The regulator, The Care Quality Commission, said it found cause for concern at more than half of them.

It said there were too many cases of patients being ignored for hours, not given help to eat and drink, or offered assistance going to the toilet.
