The Royal Hussar's Night Picket
Balaklava day is the most important day in the regimental calendar, marking The Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava in 1854. Each day The Royal Hussars mark the time of the death of Lord Cardigan, former commander of the regiment, and the man who led the ill-fated Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaklava. The Royal Hussars are unique in having their night picket ay 21:50 instead of 22:00 like the rest of the army.
