Darent Valley Hospital, Gurkha job losses and Maidstone's 2nd Royal Tank Regiment

Dom discusses Darent Valley Hospital's boss's claim that it must merge with another PCT to maintain care standards. Also, Dom hears how many Kent Gurkhas are being made redundant.

Dominic King discusses the claim of Susan Acott, chief executive of Darent Valley Hospital in Dartford, that the hospital needs to merge with a neighbouring PCT to maintain standards of care.

Noel Plumeridge, a former NHS Finance Director in the South East, and Richard Threlfall from KPMG, join Dom to discuss Darent Valley Hospital's situation.

Dom hears that 30 Gurkhas from Folkestone and 12 from Maidstone are to lose their jobs in ministry of defence budget cuts. Most of the redundancies among the Gurkhas will be compulsory, as very few have requested voluntary redundancy.

Dom has a report from Maidstone where around 300 troops from the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment, known as the Tankies, have marched through the town after returning from a six-month tour of duty in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
