Silver Jubilee
First transmitted in 1977, this film shows Her Majesty the Queen taking the salute at her silver jubilee Trooping of the Colour. It takes place at Horse Guards Parade, the largest open space in London and is the scene of what has been described as the 'most splendid military spectacle in the world'.

Despite the passage of 25 years since The Queen first took the salute as sovereign, the ceremony remains very much the same, unchanged virtually in form and in season in each new reign since the days of Queen Victoria. It was her birthday - May 24 - that roughly set the time of year.
