Canberra Launch
Dame Pattie Menzies, wife of Australia’s longest-serving Prime Minister Sir Robert Menzies, launches the Canberra liner from Belfast's Harland and Wolff shipyard on 16th March 1960. At the time Canberra was Britain's biggest passenger liner since the Cunard Queens were built and was technically one of the world's most advanced. She was built to sail between Britain and Australia.
