Meeta Raval - Final - Song 3
Soprano Meeta Raval from England sings Beim Schlafengehen from Richard Strauss’s Four Last Songs in the 2011 Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Cardiff Singer of the World final.
Strauss's valedictory Four Last Songs deal serenely with the subject of death and were written shortly before he died. In 'Going to sleep' the poet is tired and wants to give himself up to the friendly night. All his senses want to sleep and his soul wishes to soar into the magic sphere of the night, to live more deeply there. The poem is by Hermann Hesse.
