Valentina Nafornită - Final - Song 1
Soprano Valentina NafornitΔƒ from Moldova sings Regnava nel silenzio from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Cardiff Singer of the World final.
Lucia is waiting by the fountain to meet her lover, Edgardo. She sings to her nurse about the ghost of a girl, murdered by one of Edgardo's ancestors, which appeared to her beside the fountain. The spirit beckoned to Lucia before disappearing into the waters, which turned red around her.
Petroc Trelawny presents full coverage of the evening from a packed auditorium, with expert commentary and analysis from the 2005 winner, soprano Nicole Cabell, the celebrated American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and voice coach and Director of the South Bank Centre's Voicelab, Mary King.
Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious competitions in the singing world, this year's final is all set to launch another exciting young opera talent onto the world stage.
