Balance of Fear
Lester Pearson analyses the effects of terror on a global and political scale in his second Reith lecture entitled 'Balance of Fear'.
Nobel Peace Prize winner and former Canadian Prime Minister Lester Pearson contemplates the political world order in his Reith series entitled 'Peace in the Family of Man'.
In this lecture entitled 'Balance of Fear', Lester Pearson explores how fear plays a large role in instigating war, which in turn threatens our democratic system. He argues that with the removal of this emotion from the global environment, events like the First and Second World War would not need to take place. He also analyses the fear of a potential nuclear war between Russia and America and suggests mutual interest as a conclusion rather than mutual destruction. Could we globally follow a utopian world peace policy?
