Video: British Heart Foundation Garden, designed by Ann-Marie Powell
In 2010 Ann-Marie worked as part of a gold medal winning team on a courtyard garden, this year she’s back with a solo project designing a large show garden for the British Heart Foundation.
Verdant planting is interspersed with large blood-red stepping stones and red arches which plunge into a black pool of water. A green wall surrounds the garden creating a sense of intimacy but also offers up delicious wild strawberries which are mixed into the scheme. Many of the plants have been chosen for their healing properties such as Salix caprea which is an important source of asprin.
