Video tour: RBC New Wild Garden, designed by Nigel Dunnett
Reader in Urban Horticulture at the University of Sheffield Nigel brings an element of academia to Chelsea. After winning a silver-gilt medal in 2009 for his collaborative project at Chelsea, he’s now back with his first solo design.
By combining a love for the work of Victorian horticulturalist, William Robinson and the theories of the Arts & Crafts movement, Nigel has designed a beautiful and sustainable rain garden. Rain gardens are a way of making the most of every drop which falls on the garden. After falling on the green roof, water drains down into a variety of pools and beds before being allowed to soak away between the old curb stones used as paving throughout the garden.
