In this lecture entitled 'In Another Country', Richard Hoggart explores the clichΓ©s and stereotypes of people from America, France and Britain. He considers the hierarchical tones of voice of the countries and how these pitches reflect different cultures. He considers the expansion of the media in the development of these identities and asks how we create our opinion of people and how that grows into a sense of nationality.

Exploring the 'Us' and 'them' concept of society, he evaluates how effective collective voices can be.
