Dr Daniel J Boorstin explains the progressive achievements of exploration in his sixth and final Reith lecture entitled 'The Future of Exploration'.

The distinguished Professor of American history and the twelfth Librarian of Congress Dr Daniel J Boorstin gives his sixth Reith lecture from his series entitled 'America and the World Experience'.

In this lecture entitled 'The Future of Exploration', Dr Boorstin explains how exploration and discovery can be stimulated by novelty and desire. He analyses how modern science, technology and political diversity have been influenced by the exploring spirit. He goes on to explain that a side effect of this forward progression can be a dulling of the exploring spirit. Could this be the effect of the advancement in sciences and of our efforts to perfect democracy?
