Carol Klein shows how to prune a camellia
Given the right conditions, camellias can get very big. But fortunately, they don’t mind being given a quick hair cut every once in a while. It may seem rather drastic but cutting them back by half or even two-thirds won’t do them any harm. Flowering will suffer for the first couple of years, but they’ll soon recover after that. Pruning is best done in spring, immediately after flowering.
