The Spinnies Nature Reserve
Iolo Williams visits the Spinnies Nature Reserve near Abergolwen. The reserve is incredibly accessible and has plenty of wildlife due to the diverse habitats on offer.
Wandering around the nearby Penrhyn Castle Iolo discovers how the river was moved in the 19th century to create the freshwater lagoons.
The reserve is home to three freshwater pools and a large number of little egret as well as being popular with greenshank on the mud flats. It is also the best place in North Wales to see kingfisher in action.
