Llanaelhaearn co-op village (broadcast 23 January 1976)
In 1974, a young doctor, Carl Clowes undertook a campaign to fight de-population and economic decline in Gwynedd. In the village of Llanaelhaearn, Antur Aelhaearn was formally set up as an independent movement to promote employment and development. It was aimed at developing and sustaining the local community.
This clip from Kane on Friday catches up with Dr Clowes as he explains the reasons for setting up the initiative. It also features a young woman who returned to the village to follow her dream of working in the craft industry.
