Berkshire's WWII evacuees

Dr Martin Parsons, Director of the research centre for Evacuee and War Child Studies at the University of Reading, explains how children in Berkshire were affected by WWII.

When we think of the war period, we think of rationing and soldiers who were killed but what about the effect on children?

When children from all over the country were evacuated due to war, twice the number of evacuees than expected arrived in Berkshire, causing major problems.

Dr Martin Parsons, Director of the research centre for Evacuee and War Child Studies at the University of Reading, joined Anne Diamond to explain how children in Berkshire were affected by the WWII.
