St Leonards-on-Sea rape, Service Children in State Schools and Hitler plot

Dominic King talks to Det Ch Insp Trevor Bowles from Sussex Police about the rape of a young woman in St Leonards-on-Sea. Also, every child from a military family can get Β£200 of government money.

Dominic King talks to Det Ch Insp Trevor Bowles from Sussex Police about the investigation into the rape of a 17-year-old girl in St Leonards-on-Sea on Friday, 16 January.

Sussex Police asks anyone with information that could help the investigation to call 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Marlow. Or calls can be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Every child in England from a military family can get Β£200 from the government for extra support at school. Dom hears from Amanda Rowley who is headteacher at Wavell School in Farnborough in Surrey and part of the group Service Children in State Schools. Amanda helped get this money approved by the Ministry of Defence.

Also, Dom hears about the plot, hatched in the spring of 1941, to kidnap Adolf Hitler at Lympne Airport in Kent. Hans Baur, Hitler's personal pilot, was believed to be planning to defect in Hitler's plane, with the FΓΌhrer on board.
