Shostakovich: Cello Concerto No. 1 (Op. 107)

Written for Mstislav Rostropovich in the early 1960s Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto quickly established itself as key work in the repertoire for cello. Stephen Johnson joins the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic conducted by Lancelot Fuhry with Swiss cellist Christian Poltera in an exploration of the personal and practical aspects of this dynamic work.
