A doctor, a government minister and then as the President of Chile. Now she is bringing all that to bear as the head of UN Women.

Michelle Bachelet is used to carving her way as a woman.

First as a victim of the Pinochet military regime in Chile, then as a doctor, a government minister and ultimately the President of her country.

Now she says she wants to bring all that experience to bear as the head of the new United Nations body, UN Women.

Her goal is to accelerate the efforts of gender equality and the empowerment of women worldwide.

She talks to Pascale Harter on The Interview.
