Liam Logan is at the Linenhall Library talking to Dr Frank Ferguson of the Institute of Ulster-Scots Studies at Magee.

For the past year, Frank has been compiling an anthology of Ulster-Scots writings from the 17th century right up to the present day including: an old text of the Presbytery of Bangor; poetry from the rhyming weavers; snatches from the prose tradition; and some obscure texts which will demonstrate the breadth of Ulster-Scots literature.

There’ll be pieces from the Ulster Miscellany of 1753; and Dublin-sourced material, produced by ‘gentlemen intellectuals’ working alongside Scots thinkers such as James Arbuckle and Francis Hutchinson.

Frank is also including modern writers such as James Fenton, Philip Robinson and the two Charlies.
